Random Words

What: My classmates and I wrote a poem together
Where: In my "History of the Lyric Poem" class at Lewis and Clark College
When: Approximately two weeks ago
Why: My teacher though it would be fun

The process:
1. The teacher tells us to each write down a list of five words we enjoy.
2. We frantically write.
3. Our instructor requests that we narrow our lists down so that only one word remains.
4. Each student is randomly selected by the teacher to reveal his or her word. As the word is said, the teacher writes it on the whiteboard.
5. The words are written as a poem with alternating lines of 4 and 2 words per line.

The resulting poem:
Serenity ethereal pomegranate blustery
Whirlwind kerfuffle
Grin eternity onomatopoeia jamboree
Harbinger moue
Droll gravity waffle synchronicity
Perpetual comely

My list of words were as follows:
1. Whirlwind
2. Blunder
3. Lion
4. Novio
5. Twinkle

My personal poem incorporating my 5 words could be:
My lion novio,
The whirlwind's twinkle
Has never caused you a blunder.

Attempt Two

Cartoon Meilani.
Self portrait numero dos.

My scanner is still out, so this photo from my cellphone will do for now. Maybe one of these days the scanner will miraculously fix itself.

I'm Back! | Update for 'Guess The List' from 11/8/09 | Color Obsession

I'm Back!

I know you all have been suffering withdrawals seeing as though I have not posted consistently in two weeks. I am extremely apologetic and promise my lack of blogging was not due to lethargy. For the past two weeks my internet has been down, and not until today was it repaired. I have missed writing and checking my e-mail, but I appreciate the Internet's decision to be unusable for it has saved me from wasting away many hours on Facebook. The situation was not all bad.

Update for 'Guess the List' from 11/8/09

Two people [Taryn Stanley and Katie Morehouse] did figure out what my list of cars represents. I must admit, only those who attended Hood View Jr. Academy would probably have any chance of figuring out the list. Anyway, I'm sure everyone is jumping out of their pants due to their excitement and eagerness to finally have the list revealed, so I will get with the program. Drum roll please!

And the list is: Cars owned by the parents of the boys I have liked, at the time that I like(d) them.

If anyone is interested in knowing who exactly these boys are, they are: Josh Hardin, Glenn Smith, Trevor Haynes, and Jonny Long.

Color Obsession

Recently I have found great delight in nail polish, or as the sophisticates call it, nial lacquor. I have owned an expansive polish collection for many many years, but I do not remember a time when I have been so fascinated with the activity of painting my nails. In the past I would paint only my toes and leave the color on for up to several months since my toes miraculously have a talent for avoiding nail polish chipping. Lately, however, I have found great pleasure in changing up the color on both my toes and fingers every few days. And I don't always paint the two the same! It's great fun, and an easy way to display my mood. It isn't often that I can find such hapiness in such a small activity. I will enjoy it while it lasts.

Disconnected

My internet has been down all week... At the moment I do not have time to write anything amazing for I need to be studying for a Spanish test I have in approximately 40 minutes. Wish me luck.

Did I Do That?

I do not care to be stressed. Despite this fact I tend to be somewhat stressed 98% of my waking hours. And many of my sleeping hours. For this reason I never wait until the last minute to start an assignment for school. I cannot even remember the last time I waited until the day before a paper was due to start it. Actually, I'm not sure I have ever done that. . . until today.

Thankfully the writing process went much smoother than I originally expected. Yes, writing my essay did take up a large chunk of my day, but not nearly as much as I had anticipated. When I finished the essay I was surprised that I had completed the process without a single emotional breakdown or major writing block. As I read through my final draft I thought to myself, "This does not even sound like me. But not in a bad way. Maybe in a good way. I'm not sure. When did I come up with that idea? I don't remember typing that. Oh well, it sounds nice."

My question is: Is it a good thing or a bad thing that I don't feel like I even wrote my paper? It all sounds and looks so foreign.

At least it's done.

Updat for "Secret Letters" from November 4

On Friday November 6 my desk said "Don't Worry. Be Happy."

I wonder how long this will continue. I'm excited to see. Maybe I should write a note to whoever is writing to me.

Guess the List

1. Red Chevy Suburban
2. Black Chevy Suburban
3. Blue Toyota 4-Runner
4. Gold GMC Denali

I will eventually tell you what this list is composed of. In the meantime, feel free to make some guesses.
